Chat with PDF runs on an encrypted secure worker
The worker extracts your PDF's selectable text and asks a configured AI model to answer your question using only that text — with inline page citations when the document has page-level text — then returns an answer package (the model's answer, a plain-text copy, and a manifest recording the model and scope). It never fabricates answers: with no AI model configured, a scanned PDF with no selectable text, or an empty model reply, it fails honestly instead of guessing.
Checking whether a secure worker is available…
No question box is shown until the worker is ready, so Chat with PDF never pretends to answer from a document it cannot actually read.
Pressing it sends us the tool's name — nothing about you.
What happens
- 1. Encrypted uploadYour file is uploaded directly to short-lived, encrypted storage over a pre-signed URL.
- 2. Structural preflightEach file is checked that it really is the type it claims to be, and malformed ones are rejected. Files are not scanned for malware here.
- 3. Isolated processingA single-job sandbox with no network egress does the work, then is destroyed.
- 4. DownloadYou get a signed, expiring link to the result — no account required.
- 5. Auto-deleteInputs are wiped right after processing; outputs auto-delete within the retention window.

What happens to my file after Chat with PDF runs?
The file is processed on an encrypted, isolated worker. Inputs are wiped when the job finishes, the download link stops working after 60 minutes, and stored copies are erased by a daily storage rule.

Up to 500,000 characters of selectable text — roughly 81 pages of dense text, or about 291 of sparsely-set pages. Longer documents are read up to that point only, and the tool tells you which page it reached rather than treating the rest as absent.
